About Dunedin |
||
Dunedin is a great city to live in and a great city to visit. Visitors often plan on an overnight stay but end up staying longer to be able to see all the city has to offer. Dunedin was founded in 1848 by Scottish migrants and the name in Gaelic means Edinburgh of the South. This Scottish heritage is evident throughout the city in its architecture and culture. In the Octagon in the centre of the city is a statue of Robbie Burns. Dunedin is also a university city with many national and international students in residence throughout the university year. The university holidays sees a dramatic drop the population. Dunedin is a relatively small city with a big heart, we are known for being the friendly end of New Zealand. All the shopping, entertainment, dining and cultural activities you would expect from a much larger city are all available in close proximity. The waters of the Otago Harbour and St Kilda and St Clair beaches and the amazing eco-tourism and wildlife of the Otago peninsula provide an ideal setting for this naturally beautiful city. Below are some links available to help you with your activity plans. |
